As project teams increasingly implement Agile techniques for application development, quality professionals are struggling to develop ways to adapt testing practices that complement an iterative development style. This is a significant challenge in regulated environments, like finance and medical device development, where testing not only determines and ensures product quality, but also validates that the end product meets customer requirements and is in compliance with applicable regulations. Software that is developed for use in regulated environments often requires a greater level of structure and documentation than is provided in Agile as it is commonly practiced. Testing to those standards requires the ability to define and audit practices and results, and to demonstrate compliance with applicable protocols. This presentation examines how Agile testing techniques can be adapted to verify that the process itself and resulting product meet regulatory requirements. It looks at the relationship between Agile testing and compliance, and illustrates practices that can be used to improve regulatory compliance results for teams looking to adopt Agile testing. |
